Note: The RCHB Board of Directors meets on the 1st Tuesday of every month.
 
 

Chartered in 1931, in the depth of the depression.  Meetings were held at various locations, such as the Builtmore Hotel, until 1948 when the club's Youth Building was built.  Enlarged in size from 1950 to 1954, the clubhouse was occupied by yhouth groups, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Headstart, Student Classes and other non-profits for free.

HIGHLIGHTS:

1951- Sponsored the Manhattan Beach Rotary Club.

1962 - Home hosted and assited staffing events at the Los Angeles Rotary Internationl Convention.

1987 - The rotarian Magazine recognized Hermosa Beach Rotary as the third highest per capita giving to Polio Plus.

2000 - Shipped thousands of used school text books to the Rotary Club on the Island Country of Bequia.

2008 - Were awarded a Matching Grant from RI to bring clean drinking water to four rural schools in Thailand, working with sister club Taksin-Pattaya.

2010 - Became a sister club with Freeport Zone R.C., Philippines, and are working on a program with them to feed the poor.

OVER THE YEARS:  Staffed the beer garden at Fiesta de las Artes to raise funds for local projects; Sponsored several Ambassadorial Scholars; Hosted and housed GSE visitors; Established "fellowship Members" from Belgium, Glendale, Redondo Beach and other local areas; Awarded student scholarships to 8th grade graduates from Hermosa Beach Schools; Awarded Students of the Month certificates and bonds to HVS 8th graders; Participated fully in District activities; Sponsored inter-club meetings with Manhattan Beach Rotary, Hermosa Beach Kiwanis and others;  Continue to use our Rotary building as a Youth Building, Community Building and as a fund-raiser.
