May Students of the Month

Orion Albrech, shown (L-R) with President Jenn, Principal Bledsoe, Mom & Dad,  and Superintendent Wildes, is described by his teachers as a "Renaissance Man."   A reader of many books, he plays both tennis and piano, loves the Science Olympiad, and recently played lead in a production of "The Music Man."  His parents are amazed at how he just naturally gets things done.  That he was chosen by his teacher's as embodying Rotary's Four Way Test shows he is both versatile and humble,
Emma Anderson smiles with Mom & Dad while being honored as Student of the Month.  Her favorite classes are Art & Math and she participates in Model UN and Builders Club.  On her Soccer team, her parents describe her as the leader that makes all the new girls feel comfortable.  This is probably why her teachers describe her as "Caring."  Congratulations Emma!
President Elect Althea from our Philippines Sister Club (RC Freeport Zone, Subic Bay) joined us for a brief visit May 20, along with her daughter and friend.  Hermosa Rotary is pleased to support them in several of their programs that benefit children and pregnant mothers.

Presenting The Bob Peterson Memorial Scholarships at the Beach Cities Symphony Artists of the Futur Concert

At the Beach Cities Symphony concert May 16, Hermosa Rotary was pleased to join in the celebration of four "Artists of the Future" as selected by the South Bay Chapter of the Music Teachers Association of California.  Awardees were: Pianist Francis Xavier Skirtch (8), Violinist Coco Sakuma (15), Pianist Timothy Yang (15), and Pianist Juhyeok Lim.  In addition to soloing at the concert, each performer was awarded with the inaugural Bob Peterson Memorial Scholarship, funded by the Hermosa Rotary Foundation and Past District Governor, DJ Sun.
